Bat Mitzvah Girls MADA Visit

As part of their learning, the Bat Mitzvah Girls group participated in a chesed day last week, visiting the MADA community center. The girls volunteered their time and helped organize meals for those in need.

On Saturday, February 4, our Grade 3 students participated in their Havdalah Ceremony Chagigah. So engaging and experiential, this year’s format was very meaningful for students and parents. Mazel tov to all our families on this special occasion.

For the holiday of Tu B’Shevat, our Grade 2 students welcomed their parents in for an interactive activity. After a short performance, students showed their parents the tree research project they’d made and they each decorated their own pot and then planted. The amazing “Friendship” trees that students had made were also on display.

Gr. 5 Veteran’s Hospital Visit

HFS and Federation CJA instituted a program where our Grade 5 students visited the Veteran’s Hospital last Wednesday to sing songs and interact with the veterans. Students interviewed the veterans, took pictures and recorded the interviews on their iPads. What happens if it’s Chanukah but you don’t have a Chanukiah? Rabbi Stiefel answered that question during his visits to classes this week. You can still light candles using every day household items. Our students were fascinated!

Fire & Ice Havdalah

Fire & Ice Havdalah

Saturday evening, November 26, together with PJ Library, we hosted an meaningful Fire & Ice Havdalah program. Families skated, made their own Havdalah candles and some of our Grade 4 students performed the Havdalah service with Rabbi Stiefel. Then we all enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies with a special story time. It was a magical evening! Thank you to all who came out and participated.
