So many wonderful things took place at our January school assembly. We presented Certificates of Distinction to the Grade 3 and 4 students who were recognized at BJEC’s Concours Jeunes Auteurs. We also learned about a fun new program at school – Pass on the Positivity. And as usual, our Grade 6 students performed a skit to introduce our Monthly Middah (value) for Shevat – humility.
As an enrichment of the Holocaust unit studied in class, the Grade 6 students visited the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre this week. It was a very impactful day for the students and helped to put into perspective what they’ve been learning about in class.

On Saturday, February 4, our Grade 3 students participated in their Havdalah Ceremony Chagigah. So engaging and experiential, this year’s format was very meaningful for students and parents. Mazel tov to all our families on this special occasion.
For the holiday of Tu B’Shevat, our Grade 2 students welcomed their parents in for an interactive activity. After a short performance, students showed their parents the tree research project they’d made and they each decorated their own pot and then planted. The amazing “Friendship” trees that students had made were also on display.
Our Kindergarten English students recently put on an outstanding performance for their parents, showcasing all that they learned in English class, including all about how the Braidy doll works. Enjoy this song… we sure did!
Friday, February 10 was the 100th Day of Kindergarten! Our Kindergarten students have been counting the days, learning about numbers and groups of 10 to make it to this special occasion. To celebrate, they paraded around the school, cheered on by the older grades, and then enjoyed some delicious cupcakes!
On December 8, we had an incredibly meaningful school-wide assembly. Our students were thrilled to present a cheque in the amount of $1,410 to David Smajovits from the Jewish National Fund from our Read-a-Thon. HFS and Federation CJA instituted a program where our Grade 5 students visited the Veteran’s Hospital last Wednesday to sing songs and interact with the veterans. Students interviewed the veterans, took pictures and recorded the interviews on their iPads.
