So many wonderful things took place at our January school assembly. We presented Certificates of Distinction to the Grade 3 and 4 students who were recognized at BJEC’s Concours Jeunes Auteurs. We also learned about a fun new program at school – Pass on the Positivity. And as usual, our Grade 6 students performed a skit to introduce our Monthly Middah (value) for Shevat – humility.
It’s been a super busy week for our Grade 4 students! Room 207 had their Cartoon Workshop, all Grade 4 had a workshop on Fossils and the grade participated in a Living Legacy Workshop. This hands-on activity allowed the students to weave their way through the Jewish calendar, understanding what makes it different, who made the calendar and why it is so important to have a...
Friday, February 10 was the 100th Day of Kindergarten! Our Kindergarten students have been counting the days, learning about numbers and groups of 10 to make it to this special occasion. To celebrate, they paraded around the school, cheered on by the older grades, and then enjoyed some delicious cupcakes!
We’re starting off 2017 with some great news! Thank you, Canadian Jewish News, for sharing it!
On December 8, we had an incredibly meaningful school-wide assembly. Our students were thrilled to present a cheque in the amount of $1,410 to David Smajovits from the Jewish National Fund from our Read-a-Thon. He was very overwhelmed with this impressive result from our school. Thank you to all our readers for supporting this important initiative! Equally as impressive was the amazing amount of toys...
What happens if it’s Chanukah but you don’t have a Chanukiah? Rabbi Stiefel answered that question during his visits to classes this week. You can still light candles using every day household items. Our students were fascinated!
HFS is proud to present a new CPE leadership program whereby four Grade 5 students will visit the two pre-k classes at the CPE of Hebrew Foundation once a week to read the children an English book. This is an amazing opportunity for our students to develop leadership skills. They will receive training from Lorraine at the CPE and will learn to be as animated...
Have you heard about Recess Success? Now live in the HFS schoolyard!
As part of our Kindergarten’s Club des Petits Voyageurs, our students did an important activity to support their fine motor skill development yesterday – since they are studying China this month, they used chopsticks to pick up little balls and put them into cups! They also did some Chinese writing.
On Wednesday, November 16, we had our first Student / Staff Special Activity! Each class had a two-minute round of dodge ball against the teachers. The spirit was high, the competition was fierce and a great time was had all around!! And the winner was… EVERY ONE because we all had fun!
